Hello everyone!
My sincere apologies for the lack of update on the HMMA Tips. Been busy with school work and all. Hope ya'll understand yea? (:
Yeap! Today's update will be on CHARMS!
"Charms are the fashion sensation of the day, but their history is long and their future assured. For, whether affordable or priceless, specially commissioned or vintage, whimsical or mystical, charms weave spells that appeal to our most primeval desires. The guises they take may vary, but the needs they fufil are as old as time. These magical pieces of jewellery offer us love, luck and protection. "
I thought this paragraph description on Charms is pretty thoughtful and meaningful, so I decided to share with you people out there! I adapted it from a book. (:
My decription of charms is, "Charms celebrate our uniqueness, and tell our story."
Food for Thought!
SYMBOLS OF PROTECTION: The turtle. It is believed in the Eastern side of the world that the turtle and its landlocked cousin deity, are seen as supporting the cosmos and have come to symbolize eternal life, wisdom and strength. It is worn for protection, to bring wisdom and to avert sudden death. Also, tortoiseshell charms are also worn to use as defence against black magic.
SYMBOL OF LOVE: Heart Charms! It is a universal symbol of love, as well as a heraldic emblem of kindness and charity. The heart is the most enduring amongst all the other charms. Especially the heart locket, it is an alternative meaning of personalizing a love token. Such a keepstake, may contain the image of a lover, or a lock of hair. (:
SYMBOL OF GOOD LUCK: The ladybird is also yet another charm with a Christian resonance. It was dedicated to Our Lady, the Virgin Mary (For Catholics only). It is also believed to bring wealth and success and to prolong good health by absorbing diseases from the wearer. Its hard to believe, but its true!
A good example of a person who have relied on the power of charms is Queen Elizabeth. She was so devoted and even adopted a custom of surrounding the body with personal charm jewellery in death. She stipulated 150 personal charms and sentimental treasures to accompany her in her grave!
And of course, the list goes on and on. (:
LUCKY SYMBOLS: The clover leaf! As all of you know, the Four-Leaved clovers bring good fortune and good luck! Unlucky symbols such as the number 13, were used to deflect the bad luck. But that was in the old age belief. (:
Now, lets talk about Precious Stones!
JADE: It was worn for luck in the Far East, and it was thought to be the most precious gift the Immortals have given to Man.
Coral: It was worn for fertility in Italy. And A coral Necklace was the first piece of jewellery that Queen Elizabeth II had.
and just a random note. the word REGARD, was spelled out with Ruby, Emerald, Garnet, Amethyst, Ruby And Diamond. It represents the language of sentiments. And it still is applied currently in America.
I like this topic on Charms. Its pretty meaningful to wear charms which has a particular representation or symbol of certain actions. (: Its cool. I hope you people enjoyed reading this! :D
HMMA's tip today is is to wear your accessories it like how you love chocolate.
